Enjoy this flashback to the Top 10 Fictional Queens
10. The Evil Queen Grimhilde
She was the fairest of them all and she ruled with an iron fist. Queen Grimhilde controls her kingdom with powerful magic, and is cutthroat with anyone who threatens her reign or vanity. Worthy of a spot on this list.
9. Queen Mera of Atlantis
First appearing in 1963, the Queen of Atlantis is the loved and respected partner of Aquaman. Trained to be a cold blooded killer, Mera, is anything but a helpless maiden. With powers of super strength, flight, telekinesis, and the unique ability to increase the density of water to form objects seemingly out of nothing. Mera has had to rule Atlantis in Aquaman’s absence and has been known to bail him out more times than we can count.
8. Marceline the Vampire Queen
Marceline may come from a troubled Vampire family, but she has come into herself and adapted her vampire background so that instead of drinking blood she simply eats the colour red. 1000 years old, she has the fun loving attitude of a teenager, causing mischief all over the Land of Ooo. She also shreds the bass, and has a killer singing voice.
7. The Snow Queen Elsa of Arendelle
If you haven’t heard this Queens booming vocals in the last couple years, you’ve been living under a rock, also I am jealous of you because I live with a little girl… Love or hate the movie Elsa is kind of a badass, freezing over her entire kingdom over a tiff with her sister. Origins in a dark fairy tale from 1845, the Snow Queen has become a misunderstood character loved by young girls the world over.
6. Queen Medusa Boltagon
The Queen of the Inhumans first appeared in 1965 Fantastic Four comics from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Medusa often has to be the voice of her husband, Black Bolt, ruling the Inhuman state of Attilan. Granted powers by the mysterious Terrigen mists, Medusa has the ability to animate her, stronger than iron, hair to complete thieving tasks and thwart off enemies.
5. Queen Lucy Pevensie the Valiant
The youngest of the noble protectors of Narnia, Lucy was the first to discover the wardrobe portal and the biggest believer in the fantasy realm. The principal character in most of the series, Lucy shares a close bond with Aslan. The adventurous and courageous little girl is loved loyally for her strong belief in Narnia.
4. Daenerys Targaryen the Unburnt; Mother of Dragons; Queen of Meereen, the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men; and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms
Okay, sure, I often rip on the Song of Ice and Fire books, specifically Deanarys’ story. Yet, I have to give respect where respect is due. This young Targaryen princess, rose from nothing, building her own loyal army and kingdom. She has three, not one, but three pet dragons, and rules with a noble code of honour that is of her own. It may have taken her four or five books but she is worth her place.
3. Queen of Hearts
The quick tempered, antagonist monarch of Wonderland may be feared and hated by her subjects, but the Queen of Hearts runs a chaotic little kingdom. Mostly she remains in control by beheading anyone who may upset her, but hey, if it works. She has brought what order she can to a world with no order, and keeps the King docile at that.
2. Storm; Queen Ororo Munroe
From being homeless and orphaned on the streets of Cairo, to powerful mutant and Queen of Wakanda. Storm has the ability to control the weather, over vast areas or with precise control, she has learned to control air pressure to the point where she can grant herself and others flight. After her courtship, and marriage to fellow super hero Black Panther, Ororo has become Queen of Wakanda, handling it with grace and a powerful presence.
1. Queen Padme Amidala
The Queen of Naboo had a hard run of things, her reign was met with war, turmoil, and the eventual rise of the Empire. Facing constant threat and assassination attempts, Padme had to be cunning while fighting for her people, as well as truth and justice throughout the galaxy. She had the most elaborate outfits as well as two of the most hard-core Jedi bodyguards any one could ask for. Long live Amidala!
